Practice standards

Beechwood has been inspected and approved to the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme (PSS) for General Small Animal Practice.

The PSS is a voluntary initiative overseen by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) to accredit veterinary practices in the UK. It involves regular inspections by the RCVS every four years to meet a minimum set of guidelines for good practice as well as more stringent standards including the following:

  • Hygiene of premises and procedures.
  • Availability of 24-hour care.
  • Qualified staff and continued professional development so that vets and nurses keep up to date with current scientific knowledge.
  • Quality laboratory and other diagnostic equipment such as X-rays.
  • Protocols in place for estimating treatment costs.
